Application-led material selection

Artificial Leather Applications by Finished Product

There is no single best artificial leather for every application. Match the finished part, production process, service environment and verified test method.

Artificial leather finished products including a motorcycle or e-bike saddle, automotive seat and door panel, bag, footwear, equipment pad and massage chair

Start with the finished part

The same surface can need a different construction.

  1. 1. Identify the partName the finished product and exact component.
  2. 2. Define the environmentList key service conditions and regulations.
  3. 3. Confirm the performanceChoose must-have properties and test methods.
  4. 4. Share production detailsProcess, backing, volume and quality target.

Application atlas

Eight Major Applications

Different finished products need different material routes, backings and verification methods.

Black artificial leather motorcycle and e-bike seat

01

Motorcycle & E-bike Seats

Confirm: Abrasion, UV/weathering, backing movement and friction methods.

Material route: Semi PU / PVC / PU

Black artificial leather bag

04

Bags, Luggage & Cases

Confirm: Tear, fold, colorfastness and scratch methods by component.

Material route: PVC Calendered / PU

Compare material routes

Compare the construction before requesting a sample.

These are practical starting points. Final construction is confirmed against the finished part, process and test target.

Before sampling

Send the finished part, not only a color reference.

  • Provide the actual part or detailed photos.
  • Share the failure modes or pain points.
  • List must-have tests and standards.
  • Include target price and annual volume.

Common questions

Answers to start your evaluation.

How do I choose the right material route?

Start with the finished part, process, service environment and required test method. Then compare Semi PU, PVC calendered, PU and solvent-free or silicone constructions before selecting grain, color and handfeel.

Do you support custom backing and embossing?

Yes. ROYI can develop backing, thickness, stretch direction, grain, embossing and surface finish around the finished product and factory process.

Can you match my target color and texture?

Yes. Send a physical color reference, approved swatch or clear product reference. Final matching is confirmed by sample because screen colors are not reliable production standards.

What are your standard test methods?

There is no single universal test package. We confirm the applicable ISO, ASTM, EN, customer or finished-product method before development and report the agreed conditions with the result.

What information do you need to quote?

Provide the finished product, material route if known, thickness, backing, grain, color, must-pass tests, target price, sample quantity and estimated annual volume.

What is the typical lead time for samples?

Timing is confirmed after the construction, color-matching scope, embossing, backing and required tests are clear. A complete application brief avoids preventable sample revisions.
